Kornélia Szabó

Dramatic Soprano

About Kornélia

Kornélia Szabó is a dedicated dramatic soprano whose early immersion in a musically vibrant family laid the foundation for her distinguished career. Recognized for her promise at an early age—earning the Kazinczy Medal at the national competition in 2004—she refined her musicality through four years of intensive piano study and a decade of flute training before fully committing to classical singing.

Her formal education began at the renowned Vikár Sándor Music School in Nyíregyháza, followed by advanced studies in Budapest. Under the tutelage of acclaimed opera singer Jolán Sánta—winner of the 1988 Pavarotti Singing Competition and recipient of the Bartók-Pásztory Prize—Kornélia expanded her repertoire to include iconic arias from Puccini, Verdi, Mascagni, Ponchielli, Catalani, and others.

Her talent has been recognized through several prestigious awards. Most notably, she won the “World Voice Day” competition organized by the Hungarian State Opera (2020 edition), with the gala concert held at the Eiffel Art Studios in Budapest on April 16, 2022. Additionally, she was awarded the Tamás Cseh Music Scholarship (2022), secured third prize in the vocal category at the Danubia Talents International Music Competition (2020), and reached the semi-finals of the Musicum Laude International Competition 2024 in Oradea, Romania.

“I am deeply honored to interpret the arias of extraordinary female characters whose lives, achievements, and strength continue to inspire the modern world. The music composed for the dramatic soprano voice is not only breathtaking but also resonates with an enduring emotional power.”
